Small Budget, Big Ideas

Due to the issues and budget overruns of the remodel, I will need to be creative. I

have a 1064 sq. ft house. This house now has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, dining room, and a family/kitchen combo. At a minimum I estimated the décor would be $1,500 to $3,000 per room.; which is $12,000-$24,000. Well…that’s no longer a realistic budget. ☹

The first thing I did was to see what I had in the house I could use. There was a queen size bed, a cedar Armoire, a coffee table, a dresser, and buffet table.

Then I searched my home for things I no longer used. I found lamps, pictures, curtains, and a couple of area rugs.

This house is going to be a furnished rental. However, I wanted the style to be country luxe. My definition of Luxe is sumptuous fabrics, timeless elements, and comfort.

I painted all the walls a neutral custom color, since I had a limited budget. Neutral color walls are like a blank canvas; which allows you to introduce any color scheme into a room. I chose a lighter color, because the house is small and only a few rooms were flooded with light.

The house was decorated with an eclectic mix of sources. Things from the house, things from my home, the Habitat for Humanity Restore, Marshalls, Ethan Allen, Ashley furniture, Wayfair, Basset Furniture, and Tuesday Morning. Most items were on sale or clearance items.
